mrr says: OK, fine, I’ill admit it. I have regressive, simplistic (some would say boring) taste. So write off CONTRAST ATTITUDE as mere DISCLOSE clones if you must, but I’ll happily continue backing them as one of the most goddamn exciting bands in hardcore today. Every vocal, every riff, even the goddamn D-beats are delivered with such force and urgency that I don’t really see how it matters or not if they’re breaking exciting new ground every time they put pick to string, I just want them to fucking rage this hard forever. Two songs of flawless D-beat, the second of which features one of the best solos I’ve heard this year. Fuck you, it’s great. On the flip, after a brief intro SYIH delivers two more tracks of their massive japanese hardcore inspired punk. their first track did not strike me as being all that great, though i quite liked central riff and the gang vocals at the end. The second, however, was classic SYIH – speedy and precise and easily comparable to early NIGHTMARE until the epic bass break and final choruses. Two great bands doing what they do best.
